Louise Newsletter: Month 1

Louise - a few days ago you turned one-month-old. I think of how fast that has gone and yet it feels like you have been here so much longer.

You have been such a welcome addition to our family. Your first two-weeks here were a bit challenging as we discovered that you had a big learning curve when it came to nursing. With a lot of help and support from lactation consultants and your daddy we both figured it out together. Now you are a champion nurser and are finally gaining wait. Just today I remarked how chubby your legs are getting. Can't wait to see you get even chubbier...nothing cuter than a chubby baby.

The first time I saw you I laughed as you clearly have my nose just like your brother. Though I think your brother looks like a blend of your daddy and I, right now I think you look so much like your daddy and a whole lot like Elliot as a baby. You were born with a ton of dark hair and are losing it quickly =( No idea yet if it will come back dark or blonde. Either way we think you are absolutely gorgeous and can't wait to see who grow into yourself.

How we came up with your names is a funny story. First, when I was pregnant with your brother we named him "Peapod" as it was better than calling him "it" since we didn't know if he was a boy or a girl. When we became pregnant with you, we decided we again didn't want to find out your gender and wanted to assign a vegtable name to you too just to keep things cohesive. Funny enough we came up with "Pepper" before the heartburn really started. Little did I know how "spicy" of a "pepper" you would really become. It seemed fitting that I couldn't eat any peppers for most of this pregnancy.

Your given name, Louise Mae, didn't come to us until three days before you were born. We liked Louise as a middle name but didn't consider it as a first name until then. In fact we went to the hospital with four girls' names and one boy name. We decided we wanted to wait until we met you to determine your name. It didn't take long to decide you were a Louise. We love calling you Lou or Weezy and your daddy likes to call you Weezer. We hope you grow to love your name as much as we do. Our friend Tom said it sounded like "beautiful poetry" and we completely agree.

Welcome to the world Louise Mae, we couldn't be happier to have you here!

Love,

Mama
