Newsletter Month: 3

Elliot - yesterday you turned three months old! I can't believe it! This month has been full of lots of new experiences for you. We have realized that you are definitely a morning baby. You are super smiley when you wake up and are cooing alot. You definitely do not like to be woken up from a nap - wow - super crabby Elliot appears and you yell!

We took our first road trip with you to WI for Thanksgiving. You cried pretty much the whole way there. 4 1/2 hours later we arrived with our nerves shot and even Wini was exhausted as she didn't get much sleep during the drive. I think you were not happy about the dark - every time we turned a light on, you stopped crying. But you can't drive the whole way with a light on - silly goose...you were an angel the whole way back to Minneapolis, thank goodness! You met a lot of new people and spent time at a lot of new places and you were really great about it - I hope this means you will forever be flexible and a good traveler.

A couple weeks ago you started sleeping through the night - I am cautious in writing this as I feel if I continue to say it outloud you will stop doing it - please don't! You are sleeping about 8-9 hours straight and your daddy and I are continuing to pinch ourselves. We are very grateful and realized this is not the norm - you must be advanced =)

This month you also moved out of the bassinet next to our bed and into your own crib in your room. I will admit that I cried a bit as I couldn't believe you were so big to do this already. But you almost didn't fit in the bassinet anymore because you are such a big boy!
Yes - such a big boy that your daddy and I often have backaches from carrying you around...not that we are complaining...

You are fully holding your head up and sitting upright with a little help. You have also started to stand up and want to kick much more. This month also brought a huge challenge - you decided to stop taking a bottle, after taking it fine for several weeks. We tried everything - every possible bottle/nipple combination and nope - you were not having it. You would scream at the top of your lungs and become inconsolable. This lasted for about four weeks until this past weekend when I think (hope) that I finally broke you of it. I was so stressed about it - I was dreaming about you not taking a bottle! You start daycare in a few weeks so let's hope by then you are a happy guy taking a bottle - ok?

Finally, we took you to meet Santa Claus last week - you didn't cry but you didn't smile either which is ok - we weren't expecting much. We are very excited as we head into Christmas to celebrate it with you here. Christmas has taken on a whole new meaning with you around and we feel especially blessed to have such a fun, healthy, beautiful baby.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Elliot.

Love,

Mama

New Diapers!

As many of you know - we are cloth diapering - which have come a long way, for those of you that are skeptical. They have snaps, and inserts, and waterproof outer lining attached, etc. We have been really happy with them...other than the need to buy the next size already! You see - the smalls are "supposed to last" until about six months of age. Well - guess who already has outgrown them and needs mediums...
Here is Elliot in one of his new diapers - you can tell by the color of the diaper that daddy ordered these...
