Elliot Newsletter November 2011

Elliot - winter has arrived and you are excited to play outside in the snow.
Last week we got a couple of inches and you were giddy with anticipation to get out there. After preschool, your snow pants and boots were covered with evidence that you had a good time.

Halloween was a big deal for you this year. You dressed up as Thomas the Tank Train and were so excited to get some candy. Halloween was on a Monday and after I picked you up from preschool you began to ask (often) when we would go trick or treating. I explained that you needed to take a rest, daddy needed to come home from work and we needed to have dinner and then...you could go trick or treating. Well this lead to you asking when all of these things were occurring every five minutes. Finally when it came time to leave with daddy to make the rounds, I literally thought your head might explode with excitement.

I am hoping we have turned a corner as you have begun to be a little nicer to your sister. The meanness has subsided and it would be great if it didn't return.

You're having some serious issues with sleep. You wake up several times a night, you have trouble falling asleep and you are waking up too early. This all makes for a crabby boy most days. Also for some reason you are convinced there are bugs in your room at night and sometimes you think they are crawling on you. Needless to say, having a new sister arrive has really shaken you up. I feel for you as I know this is a phase and it will get better but I can see that you are having a hard time.

Pretend play is becoming a big part of your day. I love watching you mix up a batch of 'salt and pepper' muffins or take Mickey Mouse camping. Your imagination is so fun to watch.

You also continue to love preschool and we are really impressed with the school too. A couple weeks ago your teacher planned a lantern walk during a full-moon. All the kids made lanterns and we took a night walk along the creek. As we turned and came back, we came upon several fairies across the creek. They were dancing and floating with their own lanterns. It was so magical to see you and your classmates take them in.

We look forward to this special time of year with you. You are already asking if it is Christmas today...everyday. And you have circled just about everything in the toy catalog.

Love you E,

Mommy
