Newsletter: April 2011

Elliot - just as we have been relishing the warmer temperatures and playing outside, we had snow yesterday morning. I swear mother nature has it out for us this year. What do you think we did to make her so mad?

When it has been nice enough out we have lived outside and spent hours at the park. A few weeks ago we made our first visit to the park since last fall and as we turned the corner on our walk, you caught a glimpse of it and I thought your head might explode! You got so excited and started running toward it like it was a long-lost friend. Once we arrived you demanded the swings first and spent about 30-mins laughing and giggling and looking for airplanes. It was so amazing to see you tackle the slides and climbers now compared to last year. You have grown so much since then! What a difference a very...long...winter...can make.

You are in a big hitting phase right now that we hope you grow out of soon. You hit me, daddy and Wini. It seems asking you not to hit and to touch gentle or to hit something soft aren't really working. You have been spending quite a bit of time being sent to your room...sigh. Let's hope this goes away before your new brother or sister arrives in August or we could be in for it. They call them the terrible two's right?

Funny phrases you are saying right now include; "what you doing over there?" You ask this all the time, at the dinner table, when I am still sleeping in the morning, while I am driving, etc. It is hirlarious. We always answer and then ask you what you are doing over there and answer. You are becoming so conversational. You can recap what you did during the day and you often say how fun something specific was.
Asking "why?" has begun occasionally. I predict that will increase quickly and have your daddy and I pulling our hair out soon trying to answer you.
My favorite of course is when you randomly come up to us and say, "I love you too." You never just say, "I love you." Like you don't understand the order the phrases happen. It melts my heart every time.

We are just trying to drink you in right now as in a few months our whole family structure will change. We are excited but wistful too as we have loved having you be the center of our world since you arrived. We love you so much little E.

Love,

Mommy
