In addition to crawling you have also become really good at pulling yourself up to everything. Especially windows and pulling on blinds. You love to push the TV and cable buttons and climb up to cabinets and drawers to open and close them over and over and over.
We are really happy to be on the move though we are in serious trouble trying to keep up with all the new things you have discovered. Like - the computer buttons, book shelves (you ate a few covers last week) and cords. We find ourselves saying "Elliot no" a lot and you just look at us with a confused expression as if to say "Why do you keep saying that - I have no idea what it means, silly."
You are obsessed with flushing the toilet. There is a little dance you do - like a jig - as you approach the handle and shimmy shake it. As it flushes you lean in to listen cafefully to the magic sounds it makes. Then you squeal with glee and do it again. I realize the toliet and its ability to flush is quite amazing - I can see why it is so interesting. However, I am sure it will be quite some time before you are earning any money around here to help pay the water bill.
Wini's water and food bowls are your other fascination. We have created quite an obstacle course in the kitchen that includes an open dishwasher, two stools and several alluring toys along the path to deter you. It only works some times. Other times we find you happily playing in her water and helping yourself. Nice Elliot - real classy...
Speaking of Wini - now that you are mobile you are even more interested in her and she is totally thrilled with this. She is often minding her own business - napping of course - on a chair or the couch and you scoot on over there, pull yourself up and immedietly try to eat her paws. Sometimes this results in her licking you in the face and other times she tries to tuck her paws under her body so you can't get them - all while giving you a serious stink eye.
Not only are you crawling you are cruising and stepping quite a bit too. Seriously Elliot - slow down a bit here. Don't tell us walking is just around the corner - aah!
Sleep continues to be a battle - your daddy and I have tried everything, read every recommended book, tried every suggestion from friends, family, etc. and nothing seems to work. And now it is exaserbatted by your abilitiy to stand up in your crib and shake the railing or jump on your mattress while awake. Not so easy to tune out - though your daddy can do it just fine =) Sometimes we go in there and you look at us like "hey where is the party at? I am ready to go!" Sigh...we can't even remember what a full night's sleep is like anymore...is there any hope?
In addition to all of this - last week you have decided you are no longer interested in being fed baby food, you are such a big boy now that you only want to feed yourself. At 10 months - you don't have the motor skills to be able to actually get a spoon full of food into your mouth - you are completly unaware of this and bound and determined to try all while pitching a fit if anyone tries to help you. So we are cutting up fruit and veggies for you and you are picking them up and about 40% of the time actually getting them in your mouth. Pretty good batting average for being pretty new at this. The amount of messiness however has greatly increased - especially when you rub it in your hair, up your nose, in your eyebrows, etc. - good times, good times.
Seriously though - your daddy and I have remarked several times over the past few weeks about how much fun you are right now, how fast you are changing and we are amazed by how fast you are learning things, saying mama, dada, baba, and we are so thankful for all of the joy you bring to us every day.
Love,
Mama
