Elliot 4-Years-Old
Dear Elliot,
Last week you turned four-years-old! For months you have been telling everyone that you are 3&3/4. So when your birthday finally came you said, "man it feels good to be four."
You are back at preschool though with new teachers and some new kids, you need some convincing to go every morning. Once you are there you have a blast but getting out the door is a challenge.
Riding a tricycle has been a bit difficult for you but you have made great strides over the last few weeks. And you can hop on one foot and are working on balancing on one foot.
A recent funny converstation with you went like this:
E: Where are you and daddy going?
M: To a wedding. Our friends are getting married.
E: What does married mean?
M: Well like daddy is my husband and I am his wife. It means you are together as a family.
E: Everyone gets married right?
M: No not everyone gets married. Some people don't want to and some people can't.
E: I want to get married to Louise.
M: No, you can't marry your sister.
E: I am going to get married when I am five.
M: Actually you need to wait until you are much older.
E: How old were you when you married daddy?
M: 26
E: That's old.
Love you E,
Mommy

Elliot Newsletter August 2012
A few days ago we had a combo birthday party for you with your sister. Since your birthdays are only a few weeks apart, we thought it would be easier to have a joint party. You were on board with this except for cake sharing and your cake specifics. For weeks now you have been insisting on a train cake that is chocolate with chocolate frosting. And according to you, Louise should have pink cupcakes. I did my best and got a Thomas the Train chocolate cake and Lou had a separate smash cake. You were quite happy about this.
You are looking forward to preschool starting again, asking how many days?
Your mommy is looking forward to preschool starting and a more regular schedule =)
Grandma Bev and Grandpa Steve took you to the State Fair last week and you have been talking about the Giant Slide and Ferris Wheel for days.
You love to sing and enjoy making up your own words to favorite tunes. I even hear you singing to Louise every now and then. Progress!
Happy Birthday Month E!
Love you so much!
Mommy

Louise Newsletter Month: 12
Louise - today you turn 1-year-old! Man that went so fast! I know everyone says that but seriously it is true.
We affectionately call you Hurricane Weez sometimes because whatever is left out within your reach the night before is quickly thrown around once you are up. So before bed your daddy and I do a quick clean-up to avoid Hurricane Weez destruction =)
You are full of mischief and we fear we will be practicing constant vigilance over the next several months. We also realize it will only get worse when you start walking. The other day I was loading some stuff into the car and left you behind in the kitchen. I thought I had closed the screen door until I heard you shout, "ah". I turned to see that you managed to crawl out the backdoor and down the first two-steps. I sprinted to get you and when I picked you up, you clapped for yourself. Nice...well played.
Today, you climbed up Elliot's step-stool and swung your leg over the top rung to reach an apple and sharp knife on the cutting board. Constant vigilance...
Last week, you learned to clap which you think is called, "yay Louise". You say 'bub-bye' and 'aw-dun' and almost 'baby'. You love to be chased while crawling, we love to hear you giggle. You especially love it when Elliot mimics you crawling or elephant walking.
Weezy - you are such a light and a joy. Happiest of Birthdays to you!
Love,
Mama
