Newsletter Month: 16

Elliot - yesterday you turned 16-months old. We are surviving this cold, cold snap and suffering from some serious cabin fever. You have learned how to say brrr and mean it!

Christmas was so fun with you as you were into opening presents and playing with the paper and bows. It was a lot of action but you handled it like a pro - no major meltdowns until daddy's birthday...

Yes, you had your first all-out, tantrum, meltdown in a restaurant while we were out celebrating daddy's birthday. It was so bad that we had to leave. Whew - it was pretty powerful and knocked us over! We think it was a combination of being tired, hungry, being at a loud place, etc. but we really don't know and you couldn't tell us anything except to scream at the top of your lungs. It was a doozy and we know there are more to come in the future just give us a long break in between ok?

We started swim lessons this month and though when we started you were a bit leery you have since become so relaxed and chill about it. So much so, that you have no interest in paddling or kicking just laying and floating. It is quite funny to see.
New words this month are "cookie" - after eating so many Christmas cookies. You ask for them often even when we don't have any. And you are starting to drop things and say, "uh-oh".
Lastly you are really antagonizing the Wini. She usually tolerates your poking and prodding pretty well but you have begun to pull her tail. Don't say we didn't warn you about that one...

Love,

Mama

Newsletter Month: 15

Elliot - a few days ago you turned 15-months old. You are becoming such a big boy these days and we are really enjoying spending this time of year with you.

You are not only walking like a pro but are picking up the pace to a little jog. Watching you move so fast is pretty funny. You want to climb on everyone and everything. Your favorite thing to do is get some help climbing on the couch and then running and often falling from one side to the other. This is hilarious to you.
Phone calls are becoming challenging as you want to "talk" while we are actually talking. Anytime it rings you let us know by pointing and yelling at it. You think the phone is called "bye-bye" because we always say that as we hang up. I try to tell you that it's a phone and you say, "no bye-bye".

These days your menu likings are changing daily. If you could be a little more consistent we would really appreciate it. One day you love cheese, blueberries, sweet potatoes. The next you just chuck them off of your tray and decide you only want to eat crackers??? You just look at us and smile like we should be able to read your mind.

The holidays have become really special this year as you are into the tree and all of the lights. The tree is quite a magnet for you. You insist on touching the ornaments even as you hear us telling you no! As we approach to physically remove you from touching the tree, you put your hands up and back-up. But go back again and again...it is so tempting!
Last week we froze our butts off taking you to see your first holidazzle parade. You loved it though we didn't last long as you were shivering but watching your eyes light up as you saw everything was magical. Prior to that we took you to the Macy's annual holiday display and to meet Santa. We put you and baby James on Santa's lap. James seemed content but you were pretty upset. The big guy can be pretty scary...

My favorite new thing you are doing is "reading" books. You will sit down and page through them and "read" them. It is so funny to watch. You seem so big when you do this. I hope you love books as much as I do.

Finally we have been laughing at you "doing laundry". You empty your sock drawer one-by-one and bring them to the laundry basket until the drawer is empty. Each time you drop a sock in you clap for yourself. Pretty hilarious as you are obviously imitating us though I can't remember the last time someone clapped for me when I did laundry...

We are looking forward to celebrating Christmas with you in the next week watching you open presents and experiencing the holiday through your eyes.

Love,

Mama
