Newsletter Month: 15
Elliot - a few days ago you turned 15-months old. You are becoming such a big boy these days and we are really enjoying spending this time of year with you.

You are not only walking like a pro but are picking up the pace to a little jog. Watching you move so fast is pretty funny. You want to climb on everyone and everything. Your favorite thing to do is get some help climbing on the couch and then running and often falling from one side to the other. This is hilarious to you.
Phone calls are becoming challenging as you want to "talk" while we are actually talking. Anytime it rings you let us know by pointing and yelling at it. You think the phone is called "bye-bye" because we always say that as we hang up. I try to tell you that it's a phone and you say, "no bye-bye".

These days your menu likings are changing daily. If you could be a little more consistent we would really appreciate it. One day you love cheese, blueberries, sweet potatoes. The next you just chuck them off of your tray and decide you only want to eat crackers??? You just look at us and smile like we should be able to read your mind.

The holidays have become really special this year as you are into the tree and all of the lights. The tree is quite a magnet for you. You insist on touching the ornaments even as you hear us telling you no! As we approach to physically remove you from touching the tree, you put your hands up and back-up. But go back again and again...it is so tempting!
Last week we froze our butts off taking you to see your first holidazzle parade. You loved it though we didn't last long as you were shivering but watching your eyes light up as you saw everything was magical. Prior to that we took you to the Macy's annual holiday display and to meet Santa. We put you and baby James on Santa's lap. James seemed content but you were pretty upset. The big guy can be pretty scary...

My favorite new thing you are doing is "reading" books. You will sit down and page through them and "read" them. It is so funny to watch. You seem so big when you do this. I hope you love books as much as I do.

Finally we have been laughing at you "doing laundry". You empty your sock drawer one-by-one and bring them to the laundry basket until the drawer is empty. Each time you drop a sock in you clap for yourself. Pretty hilarious as you are obviously imitating us though I can't remember the last time someone clapped for me when I did laundry...
We are looking forward to celebrating Christmas with you in the next week watching you open presents and experiencing the holiday through your eyes.
Love,
Mama

Newsletter: Month 14
Yesterday Elliot - you turned 14 months old. Now that you are walking everywhere, we have had some...challenges let's say. You are stealthy, meaning when you were crawling we could hear your hands slap on the hardwood floors. Walking has enabled you to move quickly and quietly and most certainly into trouble...

You and Wini have some things to work out, mainly you constantly emptying her water bowl onto your head, splashing around in it, stepping in and getting your shoes wet, etc. And you have discovered that Wini likes to chew things especially your toys when you offer them to her. We find ourselves laughing and yelling at the same time forgetting who started what and having you both look at us confused.

We feel like you are learning things at warp speed right now. In one day you learned how to feed yourself with a spoon (not well but you finally got it), you can sign the word "more", say "Wini" (though it comes out as Nini) and are disovering how to put things together and take them apart. Whew, no wonder you are sleeping so well at night your brain must be exhausted at the end of the day after all of this learning!
(Please don't punish us for typing that previous statement.)

You are learning to make yourself laugh and of course you continue to make us laugh. Playing peek-a-boo may be your favorite thing to do right now. Whether you play by your self with your hands or pop up beside a chair, you find yourself hilarious and it never gets old. I know it won't last long so we are enjoying it immensely right now. Copying sounds and noises is fun too - lots of stuff coming out of your mouth. You have learned how to say, "night, night" when we put your pj's on and are pointing and yelling, "ah" when you want something. Often this means graham crackers or cookies which you would prefer to eat all-day long. Hey, who wouldn't right?

By far our favorite thing you are doing right now is dancing. We have no idea how you learned it but we do play a lot of music at home. A few weeks ago you just started dancing. First it was a definite jig but now it has turned into swaying. You know - like that awkward, first boy-girl kind of dancing. It is hilarious and you love to do it. Sometimes you just start dancing when there is no music playing. Obviously dancing to the tune in your head. All we have to say is, "Elliot dance!" and you start groovin. It is so precious.

Mama
