Louise Newsletter: Month 10
Lou - somehow you are now 10-months-old and are definitely keeping us on our toes!
You are crawling so fast we can barely keep track of you. And you are stealthy and quiet while doing it sometimes. Other times you drag along a toy in your hand and then you are hard to miss as we hear, hand, slap, hand, slap as you move along. And other times you crawl around with something in your mouth like a dog. Too funny!
You are a serious climber. You climb up and out of my arms while holding you, you climb inside the dishwasher, you climb up and over chair rails...
Too bad you are going to be super tall like the rest of us, otherwise you might have a career as a gymnast or rock climber =) And you love to climb stairs, giggling the whole way up.
You are babbling more and more. You say mama and know what it means. Everything else is pretty much, "baba". Signs for "milk", "more" and "all-done" are getting there. And you bang your chest with your hand when you are hungry.
We feel that your walking days are not far off. You are pulling up to stand on ev.ery.thing. And up at the cabin a few weeks ago, you let go and stood for a few seconds until you realized it and then quickly fell to your butt.
You continue to be a phenomenal sleeper, going 12-hours straight at night. You are still napping 2/day and have almost mastered the ability to put yourself to sleep. Sometimes you fuss a bit and we put your paci back in and then you are fine.
With the hot weather, we have been at the pool a lot which you love. Though you don't necessarily like to crawl through the wet puddles near it, so you elephant-walk along. And you show no fear when trying to get in the pool to keep up with your brother, yikes!
Happy Summer Weez.
Love you,
Mama

Elliot Newsletter June 2012
Elliot - summer is here as the temps are in the 90's and we are loving it!
There was a week break between the end of preschool and the start of summer camp. Summer camp is occurring at your preschool so to you it isn't much different. But there is a different set of kids there, some the same, some different. You were a bit unsure the first week with all of the new faces but you have quickly adapted and are loving it. Essentially, there is less 'curriculum' and more playing outside!
In addition to summer camp, swim lessons have begun again. You have come a long way as you are now willing to out your face in the water and jump off the ledge unassisted.
Sometimes the heat bothers you if we are out in the sun too much. You have inherited my flushed cheeks when warm so you are all about wearing your sunhat and sunglasses.
Funny things you are saying, 'grill' instead of 'girl', 'twinkle' instead of 'wrinkle' i.e. my toes are twinkly from the pool - hehe. And you often say the phrase, "sound like a plan?"
Your daily inquiry questions have changed to, "what day is it today?" then, "where are we going today?" then, "where we going Tuesday, Wednesday, etc."
You are pretty good at remembering the order of the days of the week. And you have 'right' and 'left' down 90% of the time.
You continue to love to jump, frequently making pillow piles upstairs and launching onto them always asking, "watch me k?"
Occasionally you are able to play nice with your sister though honestly there is still a frequent amount of pushing and shoving...sigh.
At least you ask to hold her sometimes which is sweet for about 1.5 mins until you want to throw her off your lap, yikes!
A big deal this month has been your ability to get yourself dressed and undressed. All.by.yourself...you insist. The cross your arms and lift your shirt over your head took a long time to master but you finally have it, yay!
And we have taught you to play Uno and you are way into it. We play several times a day and I am a frequent loser =(
Love you E,
Mommy

Newsletter Month: 9
Louise - you are now nine-months-old. I can see your first birthday in the distance - yikes! You are changing at warp speed these days. Stop it would ya?
There are seven teeth in your little mouth and you love to show off those pearly whites. Thankfully you seem to be on a teething break though of course that doesn't stop you from putting everything.in.your.mouth. And you have a knack for seeking out the tiniest thing to potentially choke on. We are constantly monitoring what is in your mouth. Your brothers legos are often the culprit...
Over the last two weeks your gross motor skills have kicked into overdrive. First you began to pull yourself up to your knees, then about a week ago you managed to pull yourself up to a wobbly stand. A few days ago we watched as you cruised along the coffee table! You are changing so rapidly and we anticipate you walking soon. You are so funny to watch as you crawl into a downward dog yoga pose or walk like an elephant...hehe.
Hearing your giggle is one of my favorite sounds. Elliot can still make you chuckle but your daddy and I can now produce one occasionally. And we have discovered you have as many tickle spots as he does too!
You are so loved and we are delighted to watch you grow and changed everyday.
Love,
Mama
Louise Newsletter: Month 8
Lou,
After about a month of army crawling, are now offically crawling for real. You finally put it all together on April 22 and have become so quick! We turn around for a minute and you are all the way across the room and often into mischief...
A 1/2 arm wave has emerged. You do it so casual like it is no big deal, but the grin on your face says otherwise. You continue to be such a laid back baby. People say they never hear you cry, we beg to differ but admit you don't cry much.
We have discovered that you are a carnivore! You eat meat better than anything else. It is a bit of a mystery to us as your brother was never much of a meat eater as a baby. Then again maybe it is because we are more chill about feeding you this time around. You love to gnaw on chicken drumsticks, steak, pork, salami, hot dogs, sausages, etc. It is pretty funny seeing your little hand and mouth handle a drummie. You are eating three meals a day and still nursing. I am trying to drink you in right now as I see your babyness fading a bit as you growing into such a little girl.
Your drooling has stopped which means we don't have to have a bib permanently attached anymore. And you rarely spit up now - yay! Wini has grown to really love you as you leave plenty behind for her to clean up after meals. And you are fascinated by her paws, trying to put them in your mouth!
Love you little Lou,
Mama

Elliot Newsletter - May 2012
Elliot - May has been a busy month so far as preschool starts to wrap up. You continue to love it there and talk about all of your friends. Sometimes your friends even pretend come home and live in your 'house'. You love to take off all of the couch cushions and build your house. Sometimes they are quite elaborate and many people live with us. Though usually Louise doesn't live there, she lives next door with Cece (our neighbor). What??? You will offer to make us 'food' from your house. Typically you only have pumpkin pie with whipped cream in the fridge and no utensils. So we pretend to eat a lot of pie with our hands. You laugh as you tell us that the bath tub is in the kitchen and 10 people sleep in one bed. Watching your imagination work is such a joy.
Sometimes you hold 'performances' in your house for guests. You serve pretend popcorn and candy and sing three songs; "Baa Baa Blacksheep", "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and "My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean". Very impressive.
You have had a couple of skinned knees and elbows from preschool. To you they are major - and you are so careful to remind us not to touch it every time you get dressed.
You continue to have a serious fear of bugs. Last week you had a nightmare that woke you up screaming that there were big, black, bugs crawling all over your bed. Poor baby...
Favorite foods continue to be grilled cheese, oatmeal, waffles, bacon, salami, peapods, cantaloupe and bread.bread.bread.
Playing with my iPad is a frequent request. Before our trip to Mexico, I downloaded quite a few games for you. Every couple of weeks you have a new favorite. A few weeks ago it was Stack the States. We must have played it 100 times. You quickly impressed us by being able to identify all of the US states by shape. We all are feeling smarter about our US geopgraphy now=) These days it is a golf game you love to play with daddy. You are a lover of all games, E.
As we have had great weather, we have been spending a ton of time outside. You love to help weed or sweep in the backyard and have also become quite good at play tee ball.
Always on the move, always learning something new. Such a wonder you are. I am honored to be your mommy.
Love you,
Mommy
Elliot Newsletter - April 2012
Elliot - you and your sister are kicking my butt for time to post right now which is why this is so late. I digress...
You are so funny these days, asking a lot of questions about time and order of things. Every morning you ask, "where we gonna go today?" I usually lay it out for you. Then you ask, 'what we do' the second day, third day, etc. You love to talk about time like, something will take 10 minutes or a lot of minutes. And to you, everything in the past is 'yesterday' or 'last week'.
Grocery shopping is a highlight for you. You love to push the little kiddie cart and put things in it. You enjoy pointing to produce and ask if we need broccoli, peppers, etc. You are quite specific about what belongs in your cart and what doesn't. When we run out of something you say, 'we need to go to the soap store', or the 'battery story' or the 'toilet paper store'. To you, each item has a specific 'store'.
Putting away laundry is a big deal to. First you insist on always going first up or down the stairs. Then you want to help sort the laundry, put the soap in and turn on the washer. Once folded you like to help put it away. Will this last? Will you always be so domestic?
Lastly - your boundless energy amazes us. You are often running or jumping as a means of travel every.where. Let's just say your feet are not often quiet, something we are working on.
Love you little ball of energy,
Mommy
