Newsletter: November 2010
Elliot - this month has flown by and we are talking about Thanksgiving already!

You continue to talk so much more every week. It amazes us. You are also voracious for letters and numbers. Counting everything and finding letters everywhere is great fun for you. You finally can count all the way to 10 without missing 6 and 7. And yesterday once you had help getting past 11, you counted all the way to 20! Also you often refer to letter 2 and number A - confusing the categories. No worries - you will get there. And you are pretty good with colors too - no longer guessing.

Your favorite things to play with are play-doh - you ask for it all of the time! Puzzles and trains are popular too.
Eddiot is what you call yourself - I get it "L's" are hard to say. When prompted to say "thank-you", you never say it, instead you say, "welcome". When asked a question like, "where is your water?", you will pause and say, "hmm" and point at your chin while you are thinking. You always look like an old man when you do this. It cracks me up every time!
It snowed this week and you got so mad when we said it was snowing. You said insisted that it was raining. I guess it has been too long since you have seen the flakes fly.
You know to say cheese when someone takes your picture, as evidenced below...

Still no progress on the potty. You sit on it once a day just before bed and we talk about going potty and sing ABC's. You can sing most of them but darnit if you won't go potty. I have a feeling we will be at this a loooong time...sigh.
We are looking forward to traveling to WI next week for Thanksgiving knowing that everyone will be so excited to see you and amazed at how much you have changed.
Happy Turkey Day - you little turkey =)
Love,
Mama

Newsletter: October 2010
Elliot - Now that you are two-years-old, I have decided to continue to write you a monthly newsletter however I am going to stop naming your age in months. Image how it will sound at month 38 - who would even know how old that is? Instead I will just label them with the date and continue to document your milestones.

You are talking like crazy, repeating everything we say and putting together two and three-word sentences. Some really fun words you are saying are watey(water) and awesome.
Counting is fun for you and you still often miss numbers six and seven moving five to eight in your mind. Then randomly you will jump to 18!

Another big milestone is that you have begun to climb stairs one at a time instead of two footed steps each. I remember following you up stairs a couple of weeks ago, silently asking myself if you would ever figure that out.

You can name colors though mostly I think you just guess rather than know them yet. You love to play with play-doh and crayons. And you are identifying a lot of letters and are pretty adament about it. If your daddy or I are reading something you interrupt and find a "w".
I think I am going to start a monthly addition to this newsletter calling it, "Things I Never Thought I Would Say." For example, "Elliot, we don't flush blocks down the toliet" or "we don't paint with yogurt" or "we don't color on Wini." I imagine more of these will come and perhaps stick around until you are quite old. Daddy and I are laughing a lot at your antics...so far.
Love,
Mama
