Newsletter: October 2010
Elliot - Now that you are two-years-old, I have decided to continue to write you a monthly newsletter however I am going to stop naming your age in months. Image how it will sound at month 38 - who would even know how old that is? Instead I will just label them with the date and continue to document your milestones.

You are talking like crazy, repeating everything we say and putting together two and three-word sentences. Some really fun words you are saying are watey(water) and awesome.
Counting is fun for you and you still often miss numbers six and seven moving five to eight in your mind. Then randomly you will jump to 18!

Another big milestone is that you have begun to climb stairs one at a time instead of two footed steps each. I remember following you up stairs a couple of weeks ago, silently asking myself if you would ever figure that out.

You can name colors though mostly I think you just guess rather than know them yet. You love to play with play-doh and crayons. And you are identifying a lot of letters and are pretty adament about it. If your daddy or I are reading something you interrupt and find a "w".
I think I am going to start a monthly addition to this newsletter calling it, "Things I Never Thought I Would Say." For example, "Elliot, we don't flush blocks down the toliet" or "we don't paint with yogurt" or "we don't color on Wini." I imagine more of these will come and perhaps stick around until you are quite old. Daddy and I are laughing a lot at your antics...so far.
Love,
Mama

Two Years Old!
Elliot - on Friday you turned 2-years-old! Crazy right?
Your daddy and I cannot get over how fun you are right now! You are talking so much that this may be the last time I list new words as I can't keep track anymore! New words include: pepper-wini (pepperoini), paper, foot, sock, crayon, mook (milk), outside, inside, head, cheeks, hair, neck, Elmo, book, Big Bird zipper, button. You also repeat practically everything we say, including when I call your daddy's name, Rob - you repeat me by saying Wob! It sounds hilarious.

Your favorite saying when asked a question or when you are just talking to yourself is, "ok" or "ok, ok, ok." You are beginning to learn how to count to 10. You fist bump and blow kisses and run and gallop. Speaking of kisses, you like to kiss Wini - a lot! Specifically kissing her on her back while say, "muah, muah, muah." You continue to want to take your kiki (blanket) everywhere around the house - and cannot even think about going to sleep without it.The kiki is quite an attachment for you.

Showing affection to me or daddy has increased as you like to hug and snuggle in the mornings. And you love to give wet sloppy on-the-mouth kisses too. Often you grab us by the ears and bring our face close to yours - again are you Italian?
A few days ago - daddy had paused something on the TV and it happened to be a written advertisement for something and you walked right up to the TV and pointed to the letter "O" and said, "O". It was pretty shocking as we haven't been working on the alphabet or anything. Since then you like to "read" the newspaper with us and identify letters. Our favorite to hear you say is "double" (W) but you can only get out the "double" part.

For your birthday on Friday we went to Annie's on campus at the U. Your daddy and I love this place and thought it would be a special place for your birthday dinner. You helped daddy and I eat our malts and then proceeded to eat about a pound of french fries. No interest in your hamburger, just the fries with ketchup of course. Frequently you would pause for a breath and announce, "nummy-nummy."
Happy 2nd Birthday Elliot.
Love you so much!
