Newsletter Month: 19

Elliot - two days ago you turned 19-months-old. Although because you are so big many people lately have assumed you to be about 2 1/2 or three-years-old. If they really spent some time with you they would realize that you act your age.

You are curious, wanting to know how everything works. You like to open and close containers, drawers, windows. One of your favorite things to ask for right now is keys which you take to the door and play with until you get one of the keys in the lock and then you clap for yourself.

You are more opinionated these days. Your favorite answer to most questions is "no". i.e. - Elliot should we change your diaper, "no", Elliot let's get ready to go, "no", Can you take your shoes off, "no"...etc. Quite the attitude at 19-months, jeez!

Books continue to be a favorite of yours and you are demanding we read One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish at least three times a day. We often catch you in the rocking chair reading books to yourself. You always look like such a big boy when you do this. We hope your love of books stays with you always.

We are practically living at the park and outside in the backyard as we have had an unseasonably warm spring. You love every minute out there and pitch a huge fit when it is time to come inside. At the park you have mastered climbing around the play gym and going down the slide all by yourself. And you love to swing, giggling as we push you.

We can't wait to spend summer days at the pool where you can show off your swim lessons skills.
Happy springtime Elliot!

Love,

Mama

18 Month Stats

We visited Elliot's ped. today and thought we would report on his 18-month stats:
Weight - 29lbs. 11oz - 90th percentile
Height - 34 3/4" - 100th percentile
Head - 49.7 cm - 92 percentile

She did shake her head a few times at how big he is. She herself has a 22-month-old who is not nearly the size of Elliot. Most peds. say that doubling a child's height at age 2 gives a good idea as to how tall they will be. We are assuming he is going to be quite tall like us - no surprise there!

Finally - take a look at Elliot this time last year. Boy has he changed!

Newsletter Month: 18

Elliot,

Today you turn 18 months old. You are exactly 1 1/2 years of age. I can see your baby-ness slipping away everyday and you are becoming more and more a little guy.

Daddy and I left you for a week as we went on vacation. It was hard to leave but we knew you would be in good hands with your grandparents and were delighted to learn that you had such a good time. However, when we returned you were quite clear about how pissed you are at us. You cried a lot and refused to give me a hug or let me hold you for about 2-3 hours. You warmed back up to daddy sooner than you did to me. Obviously you were mad we left! However your daddy and I convinced this won't be the only time you are mad at us. We look forward (not really) to your teenage days when we anticipate perhaps you will be mad at us quite often and about things we have no idea about =)

You are definetly becoming more independent, playing by yourself more and more. Recently you have really gotten into lego dupplos and are building all kinds of things and then taking them apart. Your daddy is very happy about this as he is always up for playing with legos.

You continue to talk a lot and have added, "kanket" for "blanket", "kank-you" for "thank-you". You are dancing, singing, bouncing and recently jumping. You only make it a few inches off the ground but are quite please with yourself when you do.

We also gave you a mini haircut as you had some bad Donald Trump comb over happening on your neck and around your ears. Saying that you hated it is putting it mildly, definitely not a fan of having your haircut. I am assuming that will only get worse as it gets better. Whoo-hoo!

Love,

Mama
