18 Month Stats

We visited Elliot's ped. today and thought we would report on his 18-month stats:
Weight - 29lbs. 11oz - 90th percentile
Height - 34 3/4" - 100th percentile
Head - 49.7 cm - 92 percentile

She did shake her head a few times at how big he is. She herself has a 22-month-old who is not nearly the size of Elliot. Most peds. say that doubling a child's height at age 2 gives a good idea as to how tall they will be. We are assuming he is going to be quite tall like us - no surprise there!

Finally - take a look at Elliot this time last year. Boy has he changed!

Newsletter Month: 18

Elliot,

Today you turn 18 months old. You are exactly 1 1/2 years of age. I can see your baby-ness slipping away everyday and you are becoming more and more a little guy.

Daddy and I left you for a week as we went on vacation. It was hard to leave but we knew you would be in good hands with your grandparents and were delighted to learn that you had such a good time. However, when we returned you were quite clear about how pissed you are at us. You cried a lot and refused to give me a hug or let me hold you for about 2-3 hours. You warmed back up to daddy sooner than you did to me. Obviously you were mad we left! However your daddy and I convinced this won't be the only time you are mad at us. We look forward (not really) to your teenage days when we anticipate perhaps you will be mad at us quite often and about things we have no idea about =)

You are definetly becoming more independent, playing by yourself more and more. Recently you have really gotten into lego dupplos and are building all kinds of things and then taking them apart. Your daddy is very happy about this as he is always up for playing with legos.

You continue to talk a lot and have added, "kanket" for "blanket", "kank-you" for "thank-you". You are dancing, singing, bouncing and recently jumping. You only make it a few inches off the ground but are quite please with yourself when you do.

We also gave you a mini haircut as you had some bad Donald Trump comb over happening on your neck and around your ears. Saying that you hated it is putting it mildly, definitely not a fan of having your haircut. I am assuming that will only get worse as it gets better. Whoo-hoo!

Love,

Mama

Newsletter Month:17

Elliot - today you turned seventeen months old. You are changing rapidly right now and we can see your brain moving at warp speed.

You are understanding so much and can follow a lot of directions. You can help us get you dressed and undressed and love to take your shoes and socks off - often yelling "uh-oh" as you do it. We ask you to help throw the laundry down the shoot, get in your high-chair, sit-down for snack, etc. and you happily oblige.

On the other hand you are also testing limits and doing things you aren't supposed to - knowing we are going to tell no but you do it anyway waiting for a reaction. For example, you have begun to climb the bookcase with a devilish grin on your face and laugh as we ask you to get down each time. Wini has lost her bench as you like to climb it and look outside and we have even caught you trying to climb up on the window case. Lord help us...we fear that this might be a preview into the next few years. Do you think we could avoid the emergency room for at least a couple of years?

Your relationship with Wini continues to evolve. You are definetly more aggressive at poking her which she is tolerating mostly these days. You like to pull at her gums and stick your fingers in her mouth and your fist in her ear canal. She let's you know when you are being too rough - she nipped at you this week when you pulled a whisker out. Nice one Elliot, maybe ease up on the poor girl eh?

We are amazed at how fast you are learning things. You are loving books especially ones with real pictures of people, places and things. We can ask you to find about 20 things i.e. fish, monkey, banana, baby, etc. and you will flip the pages and point to it. So smart.

New words this month are down, up, all-done, night-night, ok, and on, off which all sound like "ah" but we know what you mean. You are such a happy boy and we are looking forward to spring approaching and getting to play outside more to burn off some of your crazy energy!

Love,

Mama
